I have just read a very good article about why drivers do not see us as riders sometimes.
The article is titled "A Fighter Pilots guide to surviving on the road" and appears on several different sites in a Google search.
While it is written with cyclists in mind the same applies for motorbike riders and clearly explains why we are not seen sometimes and why we also miss things ourselves.
So Google it up and have a read.
