Mapleton Forest Dirt Ride

Sunday 18th October 2015 saw a sturdy small number of Geese enjoy a hearty breakfast and then depart for a bit of bush bashing.

After a short meander through the local twisties, we turned up the gravel road leading up to the top of the range behind Yandina and headed for Point Glorious lookout. The road has recently been graded, so the going was very easy indeed. The day offered perfect weather, so the view was suitably splendid and Rob, Bernie Colin and Mark spent a few moments taking in the warm sun before heading off again further down the track towards Cooloolabin and then on to the Mapleton Forest road.

This was more like it. The grader had not made it this far as yet, so the ruts, gibbers and erosion were a little more interesting. The rest/parking area halfway along gave us a chance to gather again and rest a little (and for Rob to take a few phone calls!). Once onto the tar again we made our way down the always breathtaking Obi Obi track and out to a stop at Bellbird for smoko.

The ride home took us back towards Eumundi with a diversion along Boyds Rd. into Carters Ridge and back to Cooroy along the Belli Creek Road. All good fun.

a.k.a. Phot Goose. I am still trying to decide if I am a motorcyclist or a photographer. Maybe both. I have been riding for about 50 years on about 37 bikes at last count. A lot of dirt (which some may have noticed I favour!) and a great deal of tar roads have passed beneath my wheels in that time. I am currently favouring the BMW range after owning 7 of them throughout my life. This club allows us to gather with like minded people on a range of bikes to enjoy the bikes, roads and good company without egos getting in the way.
