Thursday 16th July Wild Geese head north.Well, the day dawned beautiful and clear and a gaggle of Geese (Peter Vermeulen, Rod Mac Rae, Peter Gawith, Stuart Bradley, Colin Sheehan & Mike Luetjens) gathered at the Invigor 8 Cafe at Yandina for a sumptuous breakfast and then mounted up for the trek into the unknown. We threaded our way to Kin Kin via a circuitous route up through Cooroy, Belli Creek, Pomona and then along the Neusavale Rd from the top of Gentle Annie and out onto the Tin Can Bay road. Another detour around the northern part of Gympie and a splendid blast along the magnificent Sandy Creek Road which refused to hand us a straight section right up until we hit the Bruce Highway at Gunalda. West from there, we were hoping to get to the bridge over the Mary River at Miva, but it was closed, so we headed north on the well marked detour which almost took us to Maryborough!
Not to worry as we saw some new roads and had a wonderful run. The last stretch of the detour back along the western side of the river to Miva was a nice gravel bit with some lovely tar section at the end.The two road bikes (Rod - BMW R1100RS & Mike - Kawasaki GTR1400) took it all in their stride. Good stuff guys. The lunch stop was at The Rusty Ute Cafe at Woolooga, where after a tasy bit to eat, Stuart gave the Petes a mini GPS seminar and then the group headed back home through Widgee and Long Flat on the Mary Valley Road. Great stuff.
