ild Geese

Thursday 13th February

Me, Mike, Dennis and Mick set out northwards for a ride with some showers and flooding still hanging around on the coast. By the time we got to Widgee the roads were dry and we rode on towards Bauple. (Rod and Ian were also at Yandina for coffee before heading off to do other things on the day…)

We reckoned that more open main roads would be a better ride since wet winding roads would be a bit of a hassle to ride safely so we went up the motorway to the Mary Valley link road and after a stop at Widgee we rode on to Tiaro through Bauple. Since we had chosen open roads we got there a bit too early for lunch so we then set out to ride the back road through Mungar up to the Federal Hotel in Maryborough for lunch. (The low bridge just west of Tiaro had water lapping at its kerbs but we got across and then had a clear ride up to Maryborough).

Had a good lunch in the pub. They get quite a few locals in that pub for lunch so I guess that shows that they do it right with good meals and tables and chairs out on the footpath etc…

After lunch we came down the Maryborough-Cooloola Road. It had a lot of water across the road for the first 10kms but it was only 100-200mm deep so we went though with the other traffic that was heading south.

Another Thursday and another ride! Well done Wild Geese!
