Pomona Poker Run 2015

July 5th appeared with about 250 motorcyclists arriving in the town of Pomona, Qld. for the annual Lions Club poker run to raise funds. There were a very diverse range of both riders and bikes there to look at. Once underway, the route wound south through the Sunshine Coast to a first stop at Kenilworth and then up the popular Obi Obi Road to Mapleton and then down to Peachester throuogh Eudlo. At Peachester, we all enjoyed a very welcome morning tea break with a sumptuous spread of sandwiches and goodies laid on by the ladies.

Once underway again, most proceeded north again through Maleny and on to Kenilworth, but the Wild Geese members chose to go via Stanley River Road and Postmans Track to get a little more excitement. One more stop at the Bellbird Cafe for a break and to collect our cards for the play later and then we took off on the last leg to Cooran via Brooloo and Tuchekoi. This last section was a fairly fast and smooth run on the more open country.

The finish at the football grounds at Cooran with the food and refreshments was very welcome and enjoyed by all. Prize presentations finished the day and home we went. A total of about 210 klms all up.

Map of the ride route can be viewed HERE.

a.k.a. Phot Goose. I am still trying to decide if I am a motorcyclist or a photographer. Maybe both. I have been riding for about 50 years on about 37 bikes at last count. A lot of dirt (which some may have noticed I favour!) and a great deal of tar roads have passed beneath my wheels in that time. I am currently favouring the BMW range after owning 7 of them throughout my life. This club allows us to gather with like minded people on a range of bikes to enjoy the bikes, roads and good company without egos getting in the way.
