Five Geese, Garry W, Max, James, Steve and Mike braved the winter chill and enjoyed three days cruising around Northern NSW.
Day 1
Yandina to Boonah for lunch then through Rathdowney and down the Lions Road to Kyogle. The Lions Road is finally open with a few new bridges and although the road surface is still rough in places it’s an enjoyable run. We stayed at the Exchange Hotel in Kyogle which was pleasant as always.
Day 2
A chilly start at 3℃ but with clear blue skies as we headed South to Casino then followed the Bruxner to Tenterfield for brunch. We headed down the New England Highway towards Glen Innes but we took a short cut from Dundee to pick up the Gwydir to Grafton, with a photo stop at Raspberry Lookout. From Grafton we took the River Road to Lawrence and caught the ferry across to Maclean where we stayed at the Maclean Hotel. All good.
Day 3
Back onto the ferry to Lawrence and north to Casino to pick up the road to Woodenbong via Bonalbo and Urbenville. It’s a rough patch of road but the scenery makes it well worthwhile. We then retraced our steps to Boonah for lunch and headed home via Fernvale and Somerset Dam.
We had a problem free trip with great weather which was enjoyed by all.
