In early April three “Geese” headed South to NSW for seven days in an attempt to get away from the incessant Sunshine Coast rain. It worked… sort of!
Day 1 took us to Texas via Gatton and Glenlyon Dam, dodging the wallabies.
Day 2 we went through Walcha and Nundle to Murrurundi in the Hunter Valley.
Day 3 the rain caught up to us so we endured a wet 400km to Oberon via the Putty Rd.
Day 4 despite the advice on the poster in Oberon Cafe we stayed an extra night in Oberon waiting for the storm to pass rather than dance in the rain.
Day 5 we awoke to a foggy but dry morning which got better as the day went on as we headed North to Bathurst Mudgee Sofala and Tamworth to our stop at Walcha
Day 6 we abandoned our plan to do a loop to Dorrigo, Grafton, Gwydir Hwy due to wet weather on the coast and instead pottered around Bingara, Copeton to Glen Innes.
Day 7 we ran home via Tenterfield, the newly sealed Mt Lindsay Rd to Killarney and Gatton.
So whilst the one wet day was undeniably miserable it just made us appreciate the pleasure of riding in the dry sunny days.
Would we do it again? Absolutely!
